Last Thursday was the Joint Services Women's History Month Observance. The event was held on Capitol Hill where a Senate Resolution was put in place to "recognize the accomplishments of women in the military" by Sen. Barbara Boxer of California, and received by a Sgt. 1st Class Juanita Wilson, a female wounded warrior.

Scientists from the University of Southern California Institute for Creative Technologies is currently working with the U.S. Army to develop a computer-based game also known as "UrbanSim" to help support military commanders' training and their staff in counterinsurgency and stability operations, as reported by Christen N. Several candidates who are competing for an improved version of the U.S. Army's sniper rifle M-24 will get to conduct thorough testing of the rifles this spring. Project manager for Soldier Weapons, Col. Douglas A. Tamilio said that the Army had put out an industry challenge to several companies to improve the M-24 sniper rifle to make it more accurate and adjustable to Soldier's needs.

U.S. Army's new high-tech UH-60 Black Hawk M-model helicopter has been equipped with a stronger engine, a digital cockpit and composite rotor blades. When tested in combat in Afghanistan, the helicopter performed extremely well despite it being its first major combat, Kris Osborn of Army.mil reported.

Military and Defense division of Oshkosh Corporation, Oshkosh Defense, has announced that they will be rolling out their new tactical MRAP All Terrain Vehicles (M-ATV) at the annual Association of United States Army (AUSA) Winter Symposium and Exposition. There will be two new types of the MRAP, where the concept is derived from the U.S. Army's Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV).

Recently we've reported that all Soldiers deploying to Afghanistan, will be wearing a new "MultiCam" fire-resistant Army Combat Uniform. Alexandra Hemmerly-Brown of Army.mil recently wrote that starting this July, Soldiers will be equipped with the new Mountain Combat Boots and MultiCam-patterned Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment gear, also known as MOLLE.
